EC/MUG Medium Tubes (with durham tubes). pk/15.

EC medium is used to detect coliform bacteria using the most probable number method. EC broth with MUG is a selective enrichment medium for the isolation of coliforms including E. coli., Fecal coliforms are distinguished from coliforms by growth in EC broth at 45.5 °C for 24 hours. Coliforms are detected by growth at 37 °C. E. coli is detected by growth at 44.5 °C and fluorescence of the medium under long wave UV light. The test is effective for identifying E. coli in food, water, and environmental samples even when other coliforms are present. EC Medium with MUG is often used for confirmatory testing for E. coli.
